Julia's Introduction To Alpacas
Paul & Julia bought their starter Suri herd from us in January 2012. As they are getting their paddocks and shelters prepared for the arrival of the girls, Julia came down for a day to get to know the animals and to learn all about looking after them. I look forward to seeing you again next week Julia, snow permitting!
Pippin's Trip To The Vet
Our weanling Pippin had a few bumps on her nose so we went for a trip in the back of Doctor Debbi's car all the way to Stow vet's to see Uncle Bob. She enjoyed the passing scenery but didn't want to go in once we got there, hence the picture above where Doctor Debbi was giving her a talking to. After samples being taken and sent off for analysis, it appears she has been sticking her nose where it shouldn't be - in hedges and brambles.
"Poo & Parasite" Day, 24 January 2012
Hope that you all enjoyed "the poo day" and I would like to thank all of you for taking your poo home afterwards and not leaving it in my fridge, like someone did last time ! Many thanks to Bob Broadbent for such an enjoyable and interesting day.
"Thank you so much for organising the Alpaca 'poo and parasite' day. Please pass my thanks to Bob - his input was extremely informative and he achieved the perfect balance between theory and practice. His williness to answer questions and share experience was also greatly appreciated"...Debbi

New Cria Victoria's Hernia
Our first cria of 2011 (Victoria) has a hernia. Under my friend Helen's guidance, we borrowed a pair of her daughters tights and made a hernia vest for her. Finger's crossed she gets better soon.

Shearing Day...
Many thanks to Jay Holland and Garry Naish for yet another stress free shearing day. They were so kind that they even sheared Venus, our pregnant black Suri girl with a bad back, when she was standing up.
It was nice to catch up on all of the Alpaca related gossip over a well deserved pint of cider and bacon sandwich. We look forward to seeing you both again next year !
